Stampin’Up! Birthday Memories Suite

I love the retro look of the new Birthday Memories Suite from Stampin’Up! It brings back memories of homemade birthday cakes my mom made us with lots of fancy icing. We looked forward to choosing whether we would have a round cake (how many layers?) or a long, flat one (usually not–too boring!). We could choose the colors of the icing that she would pipe on and hover close by so we could lick the icing bowl when she finished.

Sad to say, we were not a great picture taking family, so I don’t have a single picture of those glorious cakes. However, I did find this photo of my third birthday. Pretty humble by today’s standards, but exciting to us at the time. You can tell that I was all about eating the cake, too, as I couldn’t be persuaded to look into the camera for my own birthday party picture!

My third birthday party (I’m the one still eating cake!)

I’ve been having fun today cutting out images from the Making Memories DSP using the new Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to adhere the DSP to cardstock. The thicker images add depth to a card and can easily be popped up using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Of course I am drawn to the cake (the tallest one, naturally), but I LOVE the little girl holding the cupcake. She reminds me of the Shirley Temple doll my older sister had.

Now I’m off to make a couple of cards and maybe a treat bag. Check back tomorrow to see what I come up with. Thanks for dropping by!
