Yesterday turned into Technique Tuesday for me as I created a birthday card to send out to a very special person with a birthday this week. I wanted something fun that would make her smile. What better choice than the word happy from the Hello You Thinlit die paired with the confetti paper from Birthday Bash DSP. To make the word POP, I used Island Indigo CS attached to coaster board for dimension. Coating the letters with Crystal Effects added extra shine that fits well with the shiny gold accents. FYI: Allow the Crystal Effects to dry overnight before touching! Trust me, it’s well worth the wait. This photo shows the word simply set onto the card; I will adhere it today now that it has dried.

The rest of the card is pictured below. I dry embossed a strip of Melon Mambo CS with the Large Polka Dot folder for a whimsical touch. You can’t tell from the finished product, but embellishments were scattered all over my table as I considered how best to complete the design. I finally settled on the KISS design philosophy with the word Birthday stamped and punched with the Word Window punch. I attached it to a strip of Island Indigo CS punched from the Modern Label and added two small pearls.

Speaking of happy, I am very happy with the results. What do you think?  Those who only dabble in card making may think, “Why all the fuss?” but I’m in my element when I have time and space to create something all my own. As the design emerges, I enjoy thinking about the recipient and their smile when they pull the card out of the envelope. For me, the time spent is priceless!

Thanks for stopping by and may you find yourself happy today!
