Nov. 2015 Blog Hop Button Resized

Welcome to Di’s Country INKers November blog hop. November is one of my favorite months of the year. The weather has turned cooler, the trick-or-treaters have come and gone, and I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving. We are featuring projects that have a fall and/or Thanksgiving theme this month. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, a time set aside to reflect on all we have to be thankful for.

I have chosen to feature two cards that I made using the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set from the 2015 Stampin’ Up Holiday catalog. I love the sentiments included in the set, especially the one below:

On this first card, I used Crushed Curry CS as the card base and added a strip of Garden Green CS embossed with the Boho Chic embossing folder. The leaf is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and colored with various Stampin’ Up markers. Coloring is very popular right now. Stores are promoting coloring books for adults these days as a stress reliever. That’s hardly news to those of us who have been stamping for a while, is it?

supplies: Lighthearted Leaves stamp set, Linen Thread, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla, and Garden Green cardstock, Stampin’ Up markers.

The base of this second card is also Crushed Curry. I embossed a piece of Tangelo Twist CS with the Woodland embossing folder. I stamped leaves from the September Paper Pumpkin kit onto the banner with Always Artichoke ink for an understated, tonal effect.  The ribbon is a slender piece cut from wide burlap ribbon.  It’s hard to see in the photo, but I covered this leaf in Crystal Effects after coloring it. The glossy finish really makes the colors pop.
