Have I told you lately that I love the look of a country Christmas? Oh, yes…yesterday! Here is that same wreath featured on a card. I left the bow off the tags, but it adds to the country look. Stamped on Crumb Cake CS with Early Espresso Ink, it looks like a twine bow, doesn’t it?
The striped DSP  (Trim the Tree DSP stack, retired) reminds me of candy canes and old-fashioned wrapping paper. The ribbon is actually a quarter inch of gold glitter paper.

The greeting is from the Hostess set Antique Tags. The old-fashioned lettering works well with the traditional Christmas colors and holly. The sentiment is very old-fashioned, also.  Glad tidings dates back to Middle English (think King James version of the Bible) and means “good news.” If you grew up reading the Christmas story in the book of Luke, you might remember that the angel appeared to the shephards when Jesus was born and calmed their fears by saying, “Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy…” So this small phrase is actually an allusion to Jesus’ birth.

The sentiment inside is from the Versatile Christmas stamp set, an amazing set of nine holiday greetings. This set is one I will definitely keep and use again for years to come.

I liked the results well enough that I decided to make a second one. If time allows, I may make even more. As I do every year, I’m working up to the last minute to make enough cards to send out. Every year, I tell myself that I will start earlier next year. It sure is hard to think about Christmas in September and October, though, when it is still 90 degrees outside. If we lived up north where it snows in September, I think it would be easier to get in the mood. Even today it is nearly 80 degrees–so NOT Christmas weather.

Thanks for checking in today. I’ll have another Christmas card to share with you tomorrow.
