Slice-of-Life-graphicWe have had a glorious spring day here in West Texas. As Ken & I were walking this morning, my thoughts turned to the miracle of rebirth evident everywhere in the spring.

It would be hard to overstate how much I look forward to spring each year. Seems as if the only crayons needed to color our landscape from October through early February are shades of brown.

But as the days grow warmer (in February for us here in West Texas), little green sprigs begin peeking up through the brown twigs in my fern, left from winter’s killing frost.

cone flower plantsThe cone flowers have let loose of last year’s dead stems and have sent up tender leaves. The live oak trees have finished showering our lawn with last year’s brown leaves and  tender green leaves are appearing.

I find my spirit lifting as we begin Easter week, a time to celebrate the greatest gift of  life and renewal.
